Happ Connection Errors: How to Spot and Fix Them

Happ runs on the Xray-core engine and usually connects within seconds, but sometimes a session drops or never establishes at all. Here are the most common connection errors and exactly what to do about each one.

"Connection failed" right after launch

This usually means no working key is active in the app, or the subscription has expired. Keys and subscription links come only from the service's Telegram bot — make sure you actually added the current key inside Happ rather than just copying it somewhere. If the key is missing or expired, grab a fresh one from the bot and add it following the guide on the Happ setup page.

Connected, but sites won't load

This is usually a server issue — the chosen server may be overloaded or temporarily unavailable in your region. Open the server list in the app and switch to another one, ideally the closest geographically or marked as faster. Learn more about choosing and switching servers on the Happ servers page.

Connection keeps dropping

An unstable connection is often caused by mobile networks, a Wi-Fi router that blocks VPN traffic, or background restrictions from the OS. Try switching between Wi-Fi and mobile data, restart the app, and make sure Happ is allowed to run in the background. If the issue persists across networks, switch to a different server inside the app.

Error after updating or reinstalling the app

After reinstalling Happ, you need to add the subscription key again — it does not carry over automatically. Open the Telegram bot, find your active subscription, and paste the link into the app. If the bot doesn't show a subscription, check your payment status on the Happ account page.

If nothing above helped

  • Restart the app and the device.
  • Check the subscription expiration date in the bot.
  • Switch to a server in a different region.
  • Update Happ to the latest version.
  • If the error persists, read the full breakdown on the Happ not working page.
FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Why does Happ say the key is invalid?

This usually means the subscription expired or the key was copied incorrectly. Get a fresh link from the Telegram bot and add it to the app again.

Can I use Happ without connecting to Telegram?

No — keys and subscription links are issued exclusively through the service's Telegram bot, which is the only source of working keys.

Why is speed still slow after switching servers?

The selected server might still be busy. Try a few different servers from the in-app list and pick the most stable one for your network.

The error repeats on every device — what now?

Check your subscription status in your account and confirm you haven't exceeded your device limit, then review the troubleshooting section.

Connect via the Telegram bot

If the error is still there, open the full Happ troubleshooting guide and get your connection back in a couple of minutes.
